Melbourne has always been an exciting city, and Little Lonsdale was one of Melbourne’s most notorious and exciting corners throughout the 1850s. Frequented by the debauched and decadent, its colourful past is equal only to the colourful characters who made it their own. 

Today, the Litte Lon Distilling Co. still stands in the last remaining single story cottage in Melbourne’s CBD. A craft gin distillery and cocktail bar with a difference, Little Lon is a unique space that transports patrons and staff alike back to the heady atmosphere of days gone by. 

So naturally, when they reached out to Luxe Walls for help re-designing their vintage feel, we said yes! It’s always an honour to work with true Australian cultural icons. We love immersing ourselves in the traditions and locations that have built the world we know today. 

The Challenge

This small and quirky space is heritage listed, which comes with a long list of challenges and obstacles when it comes to refurbishment. Our team are more than up to the task, though! With diligence and creativity, we helped the client customise their ideal vintage print and had it up on their walls in no time. 

The Product

We chose to use the Luxe Canvas wallpaper featuring a customised traditional filigree, which we worked on with the client. Luxe Canvas is our most versatile and ‘easy-up, easy-down’ material, so the transformation was quick and breathtaking. 

The Result

The space went from a plain heritage room to an immersive vintage experience. The bar feels homely and magical, and we didn’t want to leave once it was finished! Stepping into the Little Lon Distilling Co. is like stepping back in time.

IPWEAQ, the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, moved into a new office space last May, and this space is much larger than their previous offices! It’s worthy of the great work this institute performs throughout Queensland. The client wanted the looks to match both the scale of the space and the scale of their public service goals, so this is where we come in! 

The Challenge

Large spaces can be so tricky to decorate. It’s easy for decorative elements to get lost, for the room to feel empty or cold, and for the space to seem overwhelming. Luckily, at Luxe Walls, we’ve got a creative solution to every problem! 

Feature walls are a fantastic way to create a focal point in large, open spaces. They draw the eye and build a sense of gravity and pull towards a specific area. This makes large spaces feel cosier and more focused, less overwhelming. They’re also perfect for injecting personality and branding into a room without being overpowering! We wallpapered two feature walls in the foyer to add character and depth. 

The Product

We chose to use our Luxe Crushed Stone wallpapers for this install. This material offers excellent texture and depth, so it’s ideal for large spaces that need a little more spice to add interest and focus. It’s also highly durable and very low maintenance. While it can be repositioned when installing, we don’t recommend reapplying it once installed. However, it’s sure to stay up on those walls through thick and thin!

The Result 

The client couldn’t be happier with the result, and neither could we! The reception area feels sleek and modern yet packed with personality and character. It’s a space where you know you’ll be looked after by the best of the best.

Cali Burger is a staple of the Sydney food scene for anyone wanting that authentic, American burger experience. However, while the burgers are definitely the stars of the show, the interior decor is now a show-stopper as well! 

For their October 2019 refurb, Cali Burger wanted a dramatic, theatrical feel that would add to the drama of the experience. The goal was to create an immersive story for patrons and staff, making sure everyone felt transported to a whole new world of taste and quality. 

Luxe Walls stepped up to the plate and delivered! 

The Challenge

Creating a dramatic and immersive experience requires a delicate balance between over-the-top theatre and good taste. It’s easy to veer into the tasteless, kitsch or simply aggressively maximalist if you don’t hold the core design principles in your mind when creating your scheme. 

At Luxe Walls, we know when to go big, and go big we did. We fearlessly wallpapered the entire restaurant for that cosy yet exciting and theatrical vibe. Patrons and staff find themselves fully wrapped up in the Cali Burger story, and no one wants to leave! 

The Product

We chose the polyester Luxe Canvas wallpaper, featuring artwork selected by the customer. Luxe Canvas is a fantastically versatile material designed with the best of peel-and-stick technology. It’s super easy to install (see our guide here), and you can re-adjust and re-apply as many times as you need. When you want to update your walls, you can simply peel it off and start fresh!   

Luxe Canvas is also very practical, designed not to rip or wrinkle. It’s highly durable and will see you through thick and thin. 

The Result

This transformation was genuinely breathtaking. The restaurant feels intimate and exciting all at once, and patrons are sure to be left wanting more. They’ll be back for an encore!
