Cricket Bat Wallpaper By Tim Rath
The artwork shows numerous vintage cricket bats, collected from far & wide by the artist over decades. When these bats were in vogue in the late ’70’s & ’80’s, cricket had fully transitioned from a game where ‘kit’ was generally supplied by the team to one where each player had their own gear. This shift meant cricketers could increasingly express their individuality through the equipment they used. As a result the bat became somewhat of a personal mission statement; a meaty SS Jumbo for instance basically signalled that the batsmen was a somewhat carefree character, (read basher), who couldn’t be trusted with a top order position. A Gray Nicolls Scoop on the other hand conferred on its owner a degree of acumen & finesse that instantly had the player considered as opener or 1st or 2nd drop at a minimum. Each bat pictured can be labelled in a similar manner – it’s former owner a slave to the cricketing dictates of all who used the same type of bat beforehand. This unique & original artwork is a homage to these fabulous old bats.
This wallpaper design is perfect for cricket tragics whether they be kids, teens or adults & from bedrooms to boardrooms & everything in between!
